Renting a dumpster in Kingsford

Kingsford grew up around a Ford plant. The company built over 100 homes for its workers starting in the 1920s in what is still called the Ford Addition, anchored by Ford Addition Park on Woodward Avenue between Union and Ripley. Where there is room for it, the driveway is the simplest spot in Kingsford, since a container fully on private ground stays clear of the sight-line and night-visibility requirements in section 38-31(c) and of the 12-foot clear-width rule for alleys. Where the drive is too short, the alley is the normal service point in the older city grid, but at a width the code describes as generally 20 feet it is a deliberate placement rather than an easy one. From November 1 to April 1 the city allows right-of-way parking between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. only under a permit from the Public Works superintendent, which requires showing there is not enough parking elsewhere and carries a non-refundable processing fee.
